31. Location Scouting

Location Scouting

I went to three different locations to decide which was more suitable for filming the second scene of my opening sequence.

My first choice was the Broxbourne Council Offices which are located only a few minutes away from my home. This location would have been ideal as it wouldn't be busy as night and is an ideal location of where teenagers might meet. However the idea was blown out of the water as the Council Offices stated that they were not allowed to be hired and filming was not permitted.

My second idea of location was Grundy Leisure Center. This was an ideal place as it would have other teenagers and it was an ideal place of where typical teenagers would meet. However due to long distance it would have been extremely hard for the actors to get to this location on time and taking into consideration  that some are still in education and have specific curfews.

My third idea was a bit further afield for myself but was ideal halfway as it was not too far for myself or for the actors required in the scene.

This is a picture of the building where I would shoot scene 2 of my opening sequence. This would incorporate all of the actors.

This is a daylight shot of the location using Google Maps.

This is of the distance to the location on Google Maps.

The third location is the most suitable for filming as it is away from the public and means less disruption from the public. It is also free to film in as the members of the building have made a deal that we can film when they are opening their doors for meetings or gatherings. It also has a wide area in order to film.
